Peter Aage Telle was born on November 5, 1933, in Hidra, Norway, to Jennie and Nil Hill. As a young boy, Pete often shared stories of the many adventures and mischievous moments he experienced on his walks to and from school.
As a young man, Pete came to America by ship with his brother, Kenneth, and worked for their Uncle John in New York. The two brothers were known for their playful antics, and Pete often laughed while recalling the trouble Kenneth could get him into.
In 1952, Pete entered the United States Air Force and was stationed in Germany. While serving his country, he also played professional soccer and quickly became captain of his team. It was there where he met the love of his life, Doris. Together they built a beautiful life and family. Although military service often required Pete to be away from home for long periods, he always returned to the people he loved most.
Pete retired from the Air Force, after 20 years of service in 1972 while stationed at Kingsley Field. He and Doris later sold their home in Dover, Delaware, and moved their family to Klamath Falls, Oregon, where they put down roots and created a lifetime of memories.
Pete had a passion for fishing, hunting in the mountains, ocean fishing, and sharing stories from years gone by. Many will fondly remember gathering around ”the best bar in town,” which he proudly built with his own hands. His stories, laughter, and wisdom will forever be cherished.
Pete never met a stranger. He welcomed everyone with an open heart, sound advice , and a listening ear. His close friends, including Walter Sluga, Joe Lindsey, Dick Coryell, Bill Meade, and Patrick Walsh, who became much more than a friend --- they became family. Patrick, in particular, shared a special bond with Pete, who loved him as a son and the family loves him as a brother.
Pete also cherished time spent with his sister, Minda, and his brother-in-law, Jim, who traveled from Australia to visit many times. Together they enjoyed camping trips, traveling, and simply enjoying life.
Above all else, Pete loved his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His love, guidance, and devotion will continue to live on through each of them. Two grandsons proudly carry the name “Aage’” and “Nil” and a granddaughter carries the name “Doris,” a lasting tribute to a beloved family legacy.
Pete was blessed to spend his final days surrounded by family and friends. His son Dennis lived with and cared for him for many years, alongside the support and love of his siblings. Their dedication and care meant the world to him.
Pete was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris, and two grandchildren, William and Danny.
He is survived by his children, Peter (Sandy), Dennis, Linda, and David (Shannon); 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Words cannot fully express how deeply Pete will be missed. Yet his family and friends find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind --- memories filled with laughter, love, stories, and unwavering devotion to those he cared for.
Until we meet again, Pop, we’ll keep telling your stories, sharing your laughter, and carrying your love with us every day.
Thank you, Dad. Your legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
