Andrew "Andy" Rutz Obituary

Andy Rutz passed away peacefully in his home on July 3, 2024.  Andy was born to Forian and Patricia Rutz in Charles City, Iowa on July 22, 1956.  He was raised in the small town of Greene, Iowa as the fifth of seven children.  He attended Sacred Heart Academy and graduated from Greene High School Class of 74".  Andy was united in marriage to Sandra (Sandy) Bil Astor June 5, 1977.  That summer, Andy and Sandy set off for Oregon in a 1964 Chevy Panel Van that they fully restored all on their own.  They experienced many wonderful adventures before landing in Klamath Falls, where they ran a successful business, AAMCO Transmissions, for 38 years.  Andy was a highly skilled transmission mechanic and became renowned for his love and expertise of all things automotive.  there was never a helping hand he couldn't offer when it came to looking under a hood.

Andy was a humble man of faith who loved his family, good live music, cars, car racing, and cultivating his garden.  He was an intelligent conversationalist and saw the good in everyone.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy, of 47 years; his son Spencer with his significant other, Joanie, of Reno, Neveda; and his daughter Leah with her husband Riley of Bend, Oregon.  He is also survived by his siters and their spouses: Terre and Dave Mathiasmeier; Val and Gregg Eggers, Pat and Greg Joes, and Linda Rutz.  He is survived by his brothers and their spouses; Tom and Rebecca Rutz; and Chris and Gail Rutz.  Surviving in-laws with their spouses include Katie Cosgrove, Susie and Tim Brinkley, Bill Astor, and Jenny and Greg Thill.  Andy is preceded in death by Florian and Patricia Turtz, Bill and Mary Astor and many other precious family members including most recently his sister-in-law, Kathy Astor, the beloved wife of Bill Astor.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in the memory of Andy Rutz to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.  Any condolence cards or letters can be sent to Sandy at 3533 Madison Street, Klamath Falls, Oregon 97603

The family plans on hosting a private celebrations of life with family and close friends.
