Betty Jo (Coker) Andrews

Betty Jo Andrews (Coker) was born to Oda and John on March 28, 1927 at their home in St. Joe, Arkansas. She passed away on April 4, 2026, one week after she turned 99.

Growing up she played guitar and sang at different county fairs near her home in Dongola, AR. She sewed most all of her own clothes and picked cotton and strawberries in the summers to earn money. 

In 1946 when she was 19 yrs old, her family moved from Arkansas to Merrill, Oregon where she met her husband, Eugene Andrews while they were out fishing with friends. They were married in Reno, NV on November 12, 1947, and made their home in Klamath Falls, Oregon. In 1948 they had their first little girl Jolene, and another in 1950, Wanda. In 1951 Betty and Eugene moved back to Harrison, Arkansas where they resided for 2 years and had their first boy, Allen, born in 1952. They returned to Klamath Falls the following year and Eugene began his career at Weyerhaeuser. They continued to grow their family with 2 more boys, Perry and David, who arrived in 1962 and 1963.

She and her husband bought their home in Stewart Lennox in 1959 where she raised all 5 of her children and most of her grandkids. She lived in that house until February of this year; sixty-seven years.

Betty worked for many years as a Certified Med Aide for Ponderosa Nursing Home, retiring in 1992. She had caregiving in her blood, raising her grandkids, and caring for her mother, and her husband in their last years of life. Known as the best Granny ever she was loved by all who knew her. One of her favorite pastimes was watching her Blazers play. She also loved reading, going to her grandkid’s games and recitals, and listening to old time country music; her all-time favorites were George Jones and Loretta Lynn. She was also the best cook this side of the Mississippi. In the summer she was whipping up some fried apple pies, coconut cream pies, fried okra, and the best potato salad you ever slapped a lip on. In the fall she cooked up the best green beans with bacon, and when winter came you knew she was making her famous peanut brittle.

Betty was a sassy old gal who spoke her mind. She had a memory that could take you back into the 40’s with stories of everyone she ever knew.

She outlived her mom, dad, brother Buck, two of her sons, Allen and David, granddaughter Erin Andrews, her son-in-law Bud Howell, and her best friend Faye Patterson. She is survived by her daughters Jolene Howell, Bonanza, OR, Wanda (Benny) Kern, her son Perry (Debbie), daughter’s in law Karren Andrews and Norma Andrews, all of Klamath Falls; her grandchildren Eric (Debbie) Kern, Zach (Mary) Kern, Meghan Andrews, Kenny Andrews, Tori (Kris) Schill, Melissa (Tait) Hoodenpyl and Daniel Andrews; her great-grandchildren Kylee, Lucas, Oliver, Travis, Hadley, Ada, Logan, Carter, Boston, and a baby girl due in September. She also leaves behind her favorite cousins Fred Daniel of Nashville, TN and Essie Faye Krueger, Klamath Falls. 

Cremation was handled by Davenport’s and Betty will be laid to rest in Klamath Memorial Park. A celebration of life and BBQ will be held at Moore Park on June 27, 2026, in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
