Betty Jo Hornbeak Brightman was born in Merrill Oregon on June 20 1931 and went to be with our Lord on December 31, 2024.
Her parents, Berry and Pansy Hornbeak lived and raised Betty Jo in Malin Oregon. She was introduced to her future husband, Charles Brightman by his Aunt Olga, they were married on July 2, 1949 and spent the rest of her life with her loving husband lasting over 75 years. They raised five children; Sherrilyne, Dennis, Janice, Lewis and David.
Betty Jo was active in the Merrill Women of the Moose, serving in all four chairs and earned her Senior Regent Pen. She was in the Moose lodge Women’s Drum Corps which was a fixture in local parades for many years, they also went to the Moose convention to perform. She worked for over thirty years in the potato industry, and made a mean potato salad that was a staple for family and church events.
She enjoyed camping, dancing, macramé, flower gardening, but mostly spending time with her family.
Betty Jo was the cornerstone of the Brightman clan. She was an amazing and loving lady and will be sorely missed. She was proceeded in death by her mother, father, son Lewis, daughter Sherrilyne and her husband Rex, and most recently her daughter-in-law Gina.
She is survived by sons Dennis and David (Laura), Daughter-in-Law Dawn, daughter Janice, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her memory will live on in them.
Please join us in celebrating this amazing woman’s life. March 1, 2025 11:00 at the Malin Presbyterian Church, 2302 5th Street, Malin, Oregon.
