Catherine "Kay" McClure Obituary

Catherine Marie “Kay” McClure, age 93, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Kay was born on July 27, 1932, in Arma, Kansas, to Michael and Margaret Martin. In 1950, while attending Mt. San Antonio College, she met the love of her life, Lloyd McClure. They were married that same year on September 10th, beginning a partnership filled with devotion, hard work, and family. Together, they welcomed their daughter Kathie in 1953, their son Randall in 1956, and their son Ronald in 1962. Their family was the joy of Kay’s life.

Kay spent her early years in Arma before moving with her family to Pomona, California, in 1943. There she lived until 1974, when she and Lloyd moved to Klamath Falls. Over the years, she held many roles that reflected her determination and love of community—working as a Fox Theater attendant, a switchboard operator, and at the Onion Factory in her younger years. In Klamath Falls, Kay and Lloyd owned and operated Star Clothing and Boots, and she also worked at Fabric House from 1975–1977. In March of 1977, Kay began her career with the Klamath Falls City School District at Mazama High School, where she became a steady presence for staff and students until her retirement in December of 1994. While living in California, she was an active volunteer and served as PTA President at San Jose Elementary School from 1970–1971.

Outside of work, Kay’s passions were many. She loved sewing, crocheting, and collecting dolls. She also found great joy in the kitchen—cooking meals for her family and baking treats that became treasured traditions. Whether it was a holiday meal or something simple shared around the table, her warmth and love were always present in the food she made. But above all, Kay’s heart was most fulfilled in the time she spent with her family. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren were her greatest pride.

Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lloyd (1987); her infant son, Lloyd Guy (1952); her sisters Margaret Dollar, Dorothy Beck, and Virginia Taylor; and her brothers Michael, Alfred, and Edward Martin.

She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Taylor; her daughter, Kathie Jakubowski; her son Randall and his wife Lisa McClure; her son Ronald and his wife Rose McClure; and six grandchildren—Michael Jakubowski and his wife Karla, Tim Jakubowski and his wife Sondra, Daniel McClure and his fiancée Becca, Michelle Fisher and her husband Brian, Ashley Saltenberger and her husband Daniel, and Lindsey Knox and her husband Gage. She also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who adored her.

Kay lived a long, full life defined by love, service, and family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the lessons she taught, and the family she built. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
