Charlotte Walton, a devoted wife, loving mother, fiercely protective grandmother and great-grandmother, and treasured friend, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, just one week before her 92nd birthday.
Born on February 28, 1933, in Oklahoma, Charlotte spent her early years surrounded by the warmth of her large family. She was the second oldest of eight siblings—four brothers and three sisters. As a child, she moved with her parents and siblings to Glendale, Oregon, where she would grow up and eventually meet the love of her life.
In Glendale, Charlotte met Everett “Bill” Walton. The two were married on July 23, 1952, and welcomed their son, Danny Walton, on June 14, 1953. Charlotte was a dedicated stay-at-home mother, raising Danny on the family’s “hog ranch,” where she built a home rooted in love, strength, and unwavering values.
In 1973, Charlotte, Bill, and Danny relocated to Klamath Falls, Oregon, where they purchased a ranch in nearby Dairy, Oregon, though they did not live on the property. The ranch was a reflection of their hard work and shared dreams.
Charlotte’s life was beautifully enriched by her granddaughters—Kiley Bergstrom (born October 4, 1981) and Kami Walton (born September 8, 1983). Her granddaughters were the light of her life, and her home was often filled with their laughter and energy. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Rylee Bergstrom, Olivia Bergstrom, and Quincy Vashaw, each of whom she loved very much and brought her tremendous joy in her later years.
Charlotte was not only loving but also fiercely protective of her family. She would stop at nothing to defend those she loved, and her strength and loyalty were felt by all who knew her.
She was deeply grateful for her daughter-in-law, Kathy Walton, whose presence added warmth and support to the family. Charlotte cherished the bond they shared and the care Kathy brought into their lives.
After Bill retired from Gregory Forest Products in 1990, he and Charlotte traveled extensively across the United States with lifelong friends from their Glendale days. They especially enjoyed hosting these dear friends during the summers, filling their home with laughter, memories, and community.
Charlotte had a deep love for gardening and took pride in maintaining a beautiful, welcoming lawn. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, and her sharp mind and playful competitiveness made every gathering memorable.
Charlotte and Bill shared 56 devoted years of marriage until his passing in 2008. Though she missed him dearly, Charlotte continued to live with strength, grace, and an abiding love for her family.
She is survived by her son, Danny Walton; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Walton; her granddaughters, Kiley Bergstrom and husband Allen Bergstrom and Kami Walton and her husband Nick Vashaw; her great-grandchildren, Rylee and Olivia Bergstrom, and Quincy Vashaw; as well as many siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Charlotte also leaves behind her beloved dog Ivy. Charlotte leaves behind a legacy of devotion, resilience, and the kind of fierce love that binds generations together.
