Cyril Phillips Obituary

Cyril Edwin Phillips, a cherished husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and respected
member of his community, passed away on April 8, 2024, in Medford, Oregon at the age of 82.
He was born on January 29, 1942, in Kimball, Nebraska, to the late Lewis and Venda Phillips,
Cyril's life was a testament to faith, love, and service.
Cyril graduated from high school in Loveland, CO in 1959 and the University of Colorado in 1963
with a business degree. He joined the Army National Guard and served as a Sergeant E5 when
discharged in 1965.
Cyril's deep faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he was an integral part of his church
community. It was at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Boulder, CO that he met the
love of his life, Beth Ann Cornell while singing in the choir. They were married on August 9,
1964, in Boulder, CO. Together, they shared a bond strengthened by their devotion to each
other and their shared values.
Their first home was in Scottsbluff, NE, where Cy worked for a farm implement company as a
collection’s agent. Wanting to expand his education, they moved to Seattle, WA in 1965 where
he obtained his master’s degree in finance from the University of Washington. Shortly after
graduating, they moved to Hawaii where Cy began his career with Pepsi Cola. After their time in
paradise, they returned to California, where Cyril pursued various roles in finance before
venturing into entrepreneurship. In 1987, he established his own video transfer business.
Retiring in 2005, Cyril and Beth began a new chapter of their lives, relocating to Malin, Oregon.
After settling in Oregon, Cy was an advocate for conservation efforts in his community. He
volunteered with Audubon to conduct winter Raptor surveys and worked with the Peregrine
Fund to develop a network of 40 American Kestrel boxes in the Malin and Tulelake areas.
Cyril leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and stewardship. He is survived by his devoted wife,
Beth, his loving daughters Debby and Deanne, his cherished grandchildren Sydney and Teddy,
and his adored great-grandchildren Colt and Cash. He was preceded in death by his siblings,
Wesley, Doug, and Darlene. He is also survived by his brother, Tom. Cyril's memory will forever
be cherished by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May his spirit soar
amongst the birds he so dearly loved, finding eternal peace in the embrace of heaven.
A celebration of Cyril's life will be held on May 4th at 12pm at the Basin Community Presbyterian
Church, located at 2302 5th Street, Malin, OR. After the service, there will be a potluck. In lieu of
flowers, consider donating to the church at P.O. Box 55, Malin, OR 97632.
