Daniel “Danny” Glen Gray, 70, of Midland, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023, at his home.
Danny was born April 28, 1953, to Raymond and Grace Gray in Grants Pass, Oregon.
Danny graduated in 1971 from Henley High School. Upon graduation he went to work for
Weyerhaeuser Company and then enlisted into the Army and served for 4 years. Upon his
discharge from the Army, he returned to work for Weyerhaeuser Company where he worked until
1996. He spent 25 years of his work history there. Danny excelled in his career pursuits at
Weyerhaeuser and held several positions in the mill and the woods operating many pieces
of machinery and equipment. His final duty was in the woods as a timber faller until the
operations were sold to U.S. Timberlands. Since he retired from Weyerhaeusesr Company
that wasn’t the end of his work life. He went on to drive and operate a high rail truck
equipped to remove railroad spikes, plates and bars and a cutting truck equipped with a
torch to cut rail throughout the 48 states. He also worked for PRS operating many pieces of
equipment cutting, baling, and hauling plastic from strawberry fields in Oregon and
California. Danny’s final job before retiring was working for the Oregon Department of
Transportation as a Maintenance Specialist.
Danny was an avid outdoorsman! He loved hunting and fishing and generally all things
outside. He loved fishing on Upper Klamath Lake in the spring and sometimes early fall,
Crappie fishing at Gerber, Hart Mountain, and other “SECRET” places around the state. He
enjoyed grouse, quail, duck, and goose hunting till he could deer and elk hunt at one of his
many secret holes in the Keno Unit. Danny also enjoyed shooting sporting clays with his
daughter Grace, grandson Deklan and his many friends who were up for a good challenge.
Suffice it to say that Danny was an outgoing, witty, and often mischievous father, friend, and
acquaintance. He is remembered by many and will be greatly missed by those of us who
held him close. He joins his parents, Raymond and Grace and many friends and family who
have gone before him. You are gone from here Danny, but you will not be forgotten as you
live on in those of us who knew and loved you. Rest in peace Danny.
He is survived by his daughters Grace Gray (Mark Hughes) and Dana Edwards; his grandchildren,
Karmin Weaver and Deklan Hughes; a sister Charlotte Gray and a nephew, Jake Gray.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held October 14, 2023, at 1:00
p.m. at the Sportsman’s Park west of Keno.
