Darla (Jolene) Hakanson Obituary

Obituary – Darla Hakanson (Klein)

Hakanson, Darla (Jolene)

Left this world on July 8th, at the age of 62 years, leaving behind her brother and sister-in-law Daren and Jean Klein of Omaha, Nebraska, son Jaden Hakanson of Klamath Falls, OR, son Josh Hakanson of Cedar Falls, IA, daughter Joli Hakanson of Veneta, OR, step-son Jonah Hakanson of Klamath Falls, OR, grandchildren Ursula and Oliver Hakanson of Cedar Falls, IA, and nephews Matthew and Luke Klein of Seattle, WA and Nashville, TN, as well as countless other friends and extended family.

Caring and kind, lover of music, taking joy in grandchildren and nephews, a supporter, a “cheerleader”, loved birthday parties, holidays, and cherished family time. Memories of her depict someone who was deeply invested in living in the moment... a song would come on the radio and she would miraculously recite all the lyrics and melody from memory. Eager to sing with choirs both in the church and the community, her voice was strong, lyrical and projecting.

She seemed to rejoice in many of the simple pleasures of life: observing animals, enjoying food and beverage, watching Oregon football, walking, sending gifts and greetings to family and friends. She loved unconditionally, and under many different conditions.  The joy of witnessing new life never left her... nor would the rejoicing in watching the young grow older, mature, and follow their own paths. Truly someone who relied on intuition rather than solely intellect, she pursued a genuine interest in how others were feeling, emotionally and spiritually. While she did not pursue a career in the traditional sense, she was a valued member of the Klamath Falls City Schools, serving as an Educational Assistant. Friendly and gregarious, she maintained a network of friends and acquaintances who would regularly meet for lunch, volunteer opportunities, and church activities.

Though we are saddened by her loss, her memory lives on among her friends and family. Let us share in those moments of joy, laughter, and happiness that she enjoyed throughout her life.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday July 29th  10:00 AM at United Evangelical Free Church in Klamath Falls, OR.
