Dary Myron Johnson, 84, of Klamath Falls, Oregon passed away peacefully at home January 25, 2024.
Dary was born in San Diego, California September 18, 1939. He was the 4th child of Lambert Johnson and Helen Ivorene Hart. The Johnson family settled in Medford, Oregon in the early 40's. Dary's childhood revolved around grandparents and many aunts and uncles and was affectionately called "Butch". He always loved the outdoors, cars and building hot rods. He graduated from Medford High School in 1957 and married his high school sweetheart Shirley Lilly. Together they had 3 daughters and a son.
Dary was a master mechanic and was employed by dealerships in Medford and Klamath Falls before opening his own South State Automotive. His customers and friends were loyal to his excellent service and sorely missed him when he retired in 2004.
He loved all things cars, including NASCAR and was able to attend many major races across the country. He also loved and appreciated the scenic beauty of nature. Dary and Shirley enjoyed many trips to the Oregon and California coasts. They also enjoyed traveling to visit children and grandchildren. He was even able to travel and visit his daughters and family over the past Christmas season. This was truly a blessing to all.
Among his other hobbies, he loved the woods and the Oregon lumberjack gene ran in his blood. He liked to deer and elk hunt and fish. He hosted epic campouts at Lake of the Woods that will live on in the memories of his grandchildren.
Dary loved the Lord and was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many capacities and was always eager to serve others. He had a generous and loving heart and will be remembered for his charity to others and his witty and silly humor that he kept until the end.
The most important part of Dary's life was his family.
Dary is survived by his eternal companion and loving wife Shirley,
daughters, Sally Bigler (Greg) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Shari Loumeau (Eric) of Poway, California; Shelly Steiner (Mark) of Heber City, Utah. Grandfather to 13 and Great Grandfather to 23.
He was preceded in death by son Curtis Michael in 1964.
His family will honor and celebrate his life with a viewing at 11:00 am followed by a service at 12:00 pm Saturday, February 3 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 501 Martin Street, Klamath Falls, Oregon.
