Derek Jason Thompson

     It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Derek Jason Thompson, who left us on September 26th, 2024, at 9:30 AM after a long and courageous battle. Derek fought with the heart of a warrior, showing incredible strength and resilience until the very end. He now joins his beloved Grandpa George and Grandma Inez Jordan, who preceded him in death.
     Derek leaves behind a family who will forever honor his memory. He is survived by his loving parents, Emmit and Debra Thompson, and his grandparents, Ray and Frances Thompson. His brothers, Jared (Dana) Thompson and Brock Thompson, will deeply miss Derek, whose unwavering loyalty and steadfast presence were cornerstones of their lives. Derek’s legacy lives on through his niece and nephews, Annette, Cash, Hunter, and Rush Thompson, who will carry his love and devotion to the wilderness and hunting with them, continuing the traditions he so passionately embodied.
     Derek was a man of immense knowledge and skill in the outdoors. An avid hunter and accomplished taxidermist, his expertise in firearms, hunting, and survival was unmatched. If you had a question about the guns or hunting, Derek was the person to turn to. He loved the outdoors fiercely, and that passion was second only to the deep loyalty he showed his family and friends.
     Derek’s life was enriched by the countless friendships he formed over the years, a testament to the kind of man he was. Throughout his battle, his friends stood by him, visiting and supporting him through his toughest moments. Their presence, even as he fought his hardest, speaks volumes about the impact Derek had on their lives. His friends were as true and steadfast as Derek himself—solid, reliable, and deeply loyal until the very end.
     Though he has left this earth, Derek’s spirit now roams the ultimate hunting grounds in the sky, where he is at peace. A memorial service to honor his life will be held in May, with the location to be determined and announced at a later date. His ashes will be set free in his favorite hunting grounds, allowing him to forever remain in the wild he loved so deeply.
     Derek will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him—his family, his friends, and all those fortunate enough to share in his journey.
