Diane Neil Obituary

Diane Neil was born in December 1952 in Oxnard, California to Clifford Cutrell and Naomi Curran.  Diane passed away of natural causes in Klamath Falls, Oregon in December 2025 surrounded by loved ones.

Diane grew up in what is now known as the city of Shasta Lake, California and was one of five children.  In addition to Diane her family consisted of mother Naomi, step-father Jerry Witcher, brothers, Michael Barney and Jerry Whitcher Jr. and sisters Shirlee Ebster and Naomi Witcher.  Diane was a member of the Quechan Indian Tribe of Fort Yuma, Arizona.

Diane met her first husband, Doug Whipple, while they were both in eighth grade in California.  Doug and Diane were married in 1972 and later that year welcomed a son, Jeremy Whipple.  Diane loved her role as mother to Jeremy.  In 1976, Diane and Doug parted ways and Diane eventually moved to southern Oregon.

In 1989, Diane met a Texas transplant by the name of Jay Neil.  Jay and Diane started dating and eventually were married in July 1991 in Jacksonville, Oregon.  Jay and Diane were married for 34 years and lived in Medford, Albany and eventually Chiloquin, Oregon where they resided at the time of Diane’s passing.

Diane is survived by husband Jay Neil, son Jeremy Whipple and his wife Jennifer, granddaughters Skylar Farmer and Bella Whipple, grandson Gavin Whipple and sisters Naomi Whitcher and Shirlee Ebster and her husband Dave Ebster. 

Diane was preceded in death by mother Naomi Whitcher, stepfather Jerry Whitcher, brothers Michael Barney and Jerry Whitcher Jr. and nephew Ross Ebster.  There will be a celebration of Diane’s life in the spring of 2026.
