Edith Emily Paxton passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on January 6, 1930, in San Rafael, California, she was the cherished daughter of Harry and Etta Fairless. Edith was one of eight children, growing up surrounded by four sisters and three brothers.
In 1942, at the age of twelve, Edith and her family moved to Dorris, California, where her parents purchased a ranch. She attended school in Dorris and embraced the rural lifestyle that would shape much of her life.
It was in Dorris, CA, in 1946, that Edith met William Green following his return from service in World War II. The two were married in June of that year and began their life together.
Edith and William welcomed two children into their lives—William Green, born August 6, 1947, and Patty Patzke, born April 27, 1949. Together, they raised their family on the ranch, where Edith was a dedicated and nurturing homemaker. She poured her heart into caring for her home and family and later became a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren.
Edith had a generous spirit. If you knew her, you knew how deeply she loved to give—whether it was a warm meal, a thoughtful word, or a small act of kindness, she never hesitated to share what she had with others.
Over the years, Edith made her home in several places, including Dorris, CA; Klamath Falls, Oregon; Eastern Oregon; and Lakeview, OR. In each place, she left behind memories of warmth and strength.
Edith will be remembered not only for her devotion to her family but also for her gentle heart, her quiet strength, and her ability to care for those around her. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
