Gary Duane Frost Sr. “Sweetie” age 72, traveled on to his next softball tournament from his
home in Chiloquin, Oregon, on September 23rd, 2023.
Gary was born September 6th, 1951 in Klamath Falls, OR to Amelia Brown and James Frost. He
was preceded in death by his mother Amelia Frost, his sister Annie Sanchez, brother Melvin
Frost and Baby Girl Frost. He is survived by his wife Roberta Frost, his children Gary Frost Jr.,
Presley Frost, Kelly Hawk, Richard Hawk, Rachel Taylor- Reid, Louie Gallagher Sr., his
step-children; Brad Parrish, Jennifer Parrish, Justin Parrish and Mark Garcia; his brother Curtis
Frost Sr., wife Barbara, and sister Cheryl Wahl. He also left behind 21 grandchildren, 12 great
grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
Gary went to school in Bly and Bonanza and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy where he
was a member of the 1968 Oregon Co-Champion football team. After graduating he enlisted in
the Army and was stationed in South Korea. He served in the United States Army from 1969 to
1972. After he returned home he worked as a bus driver and janitor for the Klamath County
School District, and spent a long career as a UPS driver. He served as the Klamath Tribal
Chairman from 2010-2013. He retired as a Title VI paraprofessional at the Chiloquin schools
which was the position he found the most meaningful and fulfilling. He loved kids and his home
was always a haven to so many.
Gary spent decades playing and coaching softball and traveled the Pacific Northwest with his
teams earning a multitude of championships and all-star trophies. After retiring from softball he
took his natural pitching skills and transformed them into a state championship at horseshoes.
Gary enjoyed sharing his knowledge of hunting and fishing with his kids, grandchildren,
nephews, and younger cousins. He also loved spending time camping on the former Klamath
Reservation. His family and friends will miss his guidance and humor but are thankful for all
the practical wisdom he shared throughout his life.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 7th at 12 noon at the Klamath
County Fairgrounds, Linman Hall 3531 South 6th Street, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The
Spreading of his ashes will be held privately at a later date and time, per his request.
