In Loving Memory of Gerald "Jerry" Ray Howard
January 8, 1952 – July 22, 2025
Gerald Ray Howard, known affectionately as "Jerry" to his many friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, in his hometown of Klamath Falls, Oregon. He was 73 years old.
Born on January 8, 1952, in Klamath Falls, Jerry was a man of deep integrity, quiet strength, and lifelong service to others. From his early years, he carried a strong sense of duty — to his country, his community, and the people around him.
Jerry proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1972 to 1977, including active duty during the Vietnam War. For his service, he earned the National Defense Service Medal. Upon returning home, he continued to serve his country and state in the Oregon National Guard.
A devoted public servant, Jerry built a long and distinguished career with the Kingsley Field Fire Department, rising to the rank of Battalion Chief. His leadership, calm presence in emergencies, and mentorship to young firefighters left a lasting impact on the department and all who worked with him.
Beyond his professional roles, Jerry was passionate about giving back to the community. He volunteered his time with the American Red Cross and served with the Guild at Sky Lakes Medical Center. He was a certified CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor, teaching lifesaving skills to Sky Lakes employees for many years. A skilled outdoorsman, Jerry also shared his love of nature and safety through teaching hunter safety courses to local youth.
Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ray and Ruth Howard. He is survived by his twin sister, Geraldine Revis; his brother-in-law, Scott Revis; and his cherished niece, Heather Revis. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members, colleagues, and friends who will miss his quiet humor, generous heart, and steadfast presence.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at the Eagle Point Nation Cemetery 2763 Riley Road at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the American Red Cross.
Jerry's legacy of service, kindness, and courage will continue to inspire all who had the honor of knowing him.
