Gloria Lee Buchanan

Gloria Lee Buchanan peacefully passed away January 23rd with family by her side. Gloria was born
January 30, 1936 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Bud and Doris Bell. She was raised in Bly on the 7-C family
ranch. As a young woman she married and had four sons, Buddy, Emmet, Kenny and Johnney. In 1963
she married Jim Buchanan and continued to raise their family in Bly. Gloria lived in Bly her entire life and
loved looking at Gearhart Mountain almost every day.
Gloria worked at the Weyerhaeuser mill in Bly and later owned and operated the Bly County Store,
restaurant, and laundry mat for many years with a dear friend. She lived to be a mother and
grandmother. She spent countless hours traveling around the state and beyond attending sporting
events for her sons and grandchildren, and later her great grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her
grandchildren participate in 4-H and FFA and attending the rodeo in Lakeview each Labor Day. She loved
to take her granddaughters shopping and would often have several grandkids spend the night at her
house for a cousin sleepover. Most people knew where she “hid” the key to her backdoor and you were
only a stranger if you used the front door.
Gloria is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Emmet, Kenny and Anne (Barry), Johnney and Donna
(Wessel), Debbie Ochoa. Grandchildren Melissa Kness, Campbell Kness, Janice Schooler, Tracy Melsness,
Andy Kness, Buddy Kness, Cara Wilber, Taylor Kness, Philip Kness, Jayne McLaws and Jacquie Kness and
their spouses and special friend of 70+ years, Kay Dillavou McKeever. Gloria had 25 great grandchildren
and four great great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her husband Jim, son Buddy, daughter-
in-law Cyndi Kness and grandson Shaun Kness.
A celebration of live will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 10 th at the Bly Gym.
