Helen was born in Modesto, California to Leland and Irma Karker, and she passed away at home in Tulelake, California on September 6, 2025 with her family with her.
She married her first husband Jack in 1946 and in 1949 he drew a WWII homestead in Tulelake where they raised grain and potatoes. They became one of the original horseradish farmers.
Helen was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. She was a 4-H leader, Brownie leader and Girl Scout leader for many years.
She loved to travel and lived part time in Australia.
She belonged to the garden club, Republican Women's Club, PTA, Red Hat Society, and Beta Sigma Phi.
Helen was preceded in death by her husbands Jack Newkirk, John Shuss, Calvin Hunt and John Adair.
She is survived by her daughters Suzie Vaught (Santana Lerma) and Jacqui Krizo (David), grandchildren Phaedra Krizo, Ira Krizo and Aaron Vaught, and great grandchildren Will Krizo, Jonathan Krizo, Wyatt Vaught, and Samuel Krizo.
Services will be held in the Malin Community Presbyterian Church at 11:00 on September 20th followed by interment at the Malin cemetery. There will be a reception at her home following the interment.
