James Roland Simington was born December 26, 1940 in Greeley, Colorado to Roland V. (Buck) Simington and Bessie H. Kester.
Jim contracted polio when he was 6 years old. He was the Weld County polio poster child for the March of Dimes. With God, family, and a lot of physical therapy he fully recovered.
James an Sharon Noll married while he was in the Army and they had 4 children; Roland J. Simington, Karina Lanoue, Rodney D. Simington, and Robert Simington.
Jim attended high school at Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne, Wyoming. He went to the Army from school and attended various high tech Army schools for guided missile electrical repairman. He had to acquire a top secret crypto clearance as a result. It scared the heck out of his folks and siblings to have the F.B.I. and C.I.A. show up asking questions. Jim served 9 years in the Army. 7 years he served at several Nike missile installations and 3 of those were at a hawk missile battery in Erding, Bavaria, Germany. His passion was being on the fire team each year and firing missiles at the white sands missile range at Fort Bliss Texas. He served 2 years at Phan Range Vietnam.
James and Sharon divorced after 18 years and he married Sheila A. Swaim in 1981. She had a daughter LaDonna Swaim. Together they finished raising the children.
Jim moved to Klamath Falls in 1972. He worked in the logging, construction, and trucking industries. He was a heavy hauler for Roy L.Houck Construction for 9 years. His last employer was Webb Asphalt for 14 years.
Jim was active in several organizations after his military duties. The V.F.W. in Colorado of which he was vice commander of post 2121. His favorite organization in Klamath Falls was the "Klamath Prospectors." He served 2 years as president of the chapter.
Jim and Sheila were married 41 years and had 16 grand children and 21 great grand children.
