John Pelican Obituary

John William Pelican was born in Burbank, California on December 10, 1947.  He passed away in Brownsboro, Oregon on May 9, 2024.  John was the son of Walter Alfred Pelican and Eleanor Jean Farrell.  Growing up, they moved to the Rogue Valley where he helped his father build houses and run a farm.  He graduated from Medford High School in 1967.  John later worked for NBC Studios as a carpenter on the Johnny Carson Show, Dark Shadows, Dean Martin and Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In.  Later, he went to work for Rogue Valley Medical Center, where he met the love of his life Becky.  John retired from Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in 2014.  John was married to Becky on June 3, 1988, in Gold Hill, Oregon. John and Becky enjoyed many hobbies.  They ocean fished for tuna, salmon, halibut and bottom fish.  They enjoyed traveling and visiting their property in Plush, Oregon.  

 

John is survived by his wife, Rebecca Lynn Pelican of 35 years, their two children Katherine Hust (Michael) and Elizabeth Salvador (Anthony), and his daughter Marcie Cross; stepchildren Michael Bipat, Anthony Bipat, Michelle (Rasheed) Behrooznia and Shawn (Lena) Bipat.  Grandchildren Nathan Quinn, Riley Jones; Matthew Cross, Jessica Salinas, Trinity DeWitt, Myles DeWitt, Denzel DeWitt and Wesley DeWitt; Khina, Rabi, and Suri Behrooznia; Saphira, Raelynn and Belemy Bipat; Madilynn, Bayleigh, Quentin and Audriella Hust; and Aveanna, Cruz and Amelia Salvador.   

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Nancy Gonnering, daughter Christie Quinn and granddaughter Angela Grace DeWitt.

His gravesite service will be held at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens on May 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM, 4711 Hwy 39 Klamath Falls.
