Juan Alvarez Obituary

Our heart aches as we share the news of our beloved father, Juan Manuel Alvarez's passing on May 19th, 2025. He left us so suddenly leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. He was 69 years old.

Dad was born on July 2nd, 1955, in El Algodonal in the Municipal of Coquitmatlan in Colima, Mexico.

From a young age, he had a hunger for life for work and had such an admirable trait that stayed with him until the very end.  Dad left Colima at the age of 14 to achieve what he felt many years ago, was once the American dream. He was a man of many talents who also truly enjoyed welding and dedicated his life to farming for most of his life. But more than his professional achievements, it was his warmth, kindness, and humor that truly defined him. He had a knack for telling the best stories and always knew how to make everyone laugh with his charismatic personality. There was no one like our pops.

Dad leaves behind his adoring daughters and sons, Maria, Andrew, Allen, Kelly, Katie, Tyler and Chris as well as his precious grandchildren, Ethan, Illias, Prisais, Zaiden, Skyler, Elayna, Jacob, Colton, Sofia, Easton, Sophia and Mabel who will miss him dearly. He will also be missed deeply by his best friend Barbara, who has been such a blessing to him for many years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Del Carmen Gomez Cuevas, father, Jose Alvarez Magaäa and brother Jose Humberto Alvarez Gomez, whom he missed every day.

He also leaves behind his sisters from Colima: Carmen Silvia Álvarez Gómez, Guadalupe Leticia Álvarez Gómez, Glenda Álvarez Gómez, Evelia Álvarez Gómez, María Elva Álvarez Gómez, Consuelo Álvarez Gómez, Dora Celia Álvarez Gómez who he deeply cherished and spoke to every moment that he could.

Our family welcomes you to join us in saying our final goodbyes in celebrating Dads life at his Viewing on Friday, May 6, 2025 at 3:00 pm to 5:00 for family, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm for the public, at Davenport ls Chapel of the Good Shepherd.

Dad, you were our hero, our confidant, and our best friend. You were the most selfless soul we knew, who fought fiercely to bring joy to our lives every day. You loved us unconditionally regardless of our flaws.

We will carry your love in our hearts forever, and we will miss you every single day until we meet again.

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint."

-Isaiah 40:31
