Matthew Stacy Bailey was a vibrant and kind man with a wild and untamed soul. He was born on June 8th, 1992 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Living here his whole life and integrating himself into the community wholly. A fiercely loyal friend and a beacon of light and warmth.
As a child, Matt participated in all the usual activities: YMCA youth sports, later setting track records at Fairview Elementary, playing clarinet at Ponderosa Junior High, and even joining a dance team at Klamath Union High School.
As an adult, he was an avid outdoors man, often taking several camping trips a year. He loved rafting and hiking. One of his favorite places was the Umpqua River waterfalls, a place he had been visiting since childhood.
Matt was a part of several leagues, bowling, pool, and cornhole, excelling at all 3. In fact, Matt was good at everything he did. A natural, he could cook you a delicious meal, he could rebuild a street bike or he could help change the oil in your car. He was a jack of all trades. But Matts’ true call was being a friend. The immensity of love that Matt sent out into the world is indescribable. He touched many lives and his impact on the community was great, having held numerous jobs throughout the basin including Basin tire, he was a cook for the kitchen on a fire crew and most recently at Chicken and Cheers. Through random acts of kindness and always willing to help, to listen, and always there ready with a hug and understanding. The amount of people mourning Matt’s loss is a testament to his loving and generous nature.
Matt is survived by his two sons, Keenan and Rowan. There were forever imprinted on his heart. Matt leaves his parents, Marvin and Karleen Bailey, stepmother, Dixie Fernandez, Brothers, Damian Woodward, Zakkery Fernandez, Sisters, Stacy Jannicelli, Paiton Fernandez, and Kiarra Snyder. Also, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Coming from a big family was a part of matt’s charm. It gave him the ability to make friends with everyone. As large as his family is Matts friends list is even larger. A truly treasured soul Matt will be very missed.
A service will be held at a later date.
