Raymond "Burd" Evatt Obituary

Raymond Bryce Evatt “Burd” was born on September 15, 1955 in Klamath Falls Oregon. He flew into the arms of God August 9, 2024 in Bend, Oregon. He is survived by his two sons Steve Evatt (Lori) and John Evatt (Leticia). Six grandchildren, Paola, Haylea, Christopher, Holly, Hannah and Hayle. Five great grandchildren. Sisters Judy(Ken) Rutledge, Jody(Rick) Rainwater, Cat Owen. Nephews Kenny, Shane, John, Justin, and Lucan. Nieces Sean, Jody, and Brandy. Uncles Jim and Tad Evatt. Cousins Dan Evatt, and Jules Catoi. As well as numerous others. He was preceded in death by his parents Verna, and Jack Evatt, his grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and one granddaughter.

After graduating from KUHS Bryce went to work in the woods for Weyerhaeuser at camp 9 before transferring in town to the sort yard. He worked for Gregory Forest Products, and eventually went back to work for Weyerhaeuser in the sort yard where he set the record for most logs fed into the mill in an 8 hour shift. He finished working at Weyerhaeuser as a weighmaster in the scales, and loading chip trucks. He retired from PMF and was forever grateful to Carolyn, and Joann for being so supportive of him when he had to help take care of his aging parents.

Bryce had a great sense of humor. One the time in the drive through at Burger King, he waited till the cashier left to get the order, opened the drive through window put his hand in it, and started knocking on the window pointing at his hand like it was stuck. He was a good friend and a fun guy to hang around with guaranteed if you were with Bryce you were going to laugh and have a great time. He loved giving rides to the grandkids, being in the woods, shooting, cooking, and family. Nothing was more important to him than family, fiercely protective and caring.

But above all else he was a great dad, he took us everywhere, and taught us everything we needed to know. He never failed us. He was selfless when it came to us, and he will be missed beyond comprehension.
