Ronald Allen Obituary

Ronald “Ron” Clifford Allen passed away at home on September 20, 2025 in Klamath
Falls, Oregon. He was born in San Jose, CA on December 30, 1932, the eldest of six
children of Martin Allen and Ruth Davis Allen.
Ron had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh with his funny jokes
and showing off his quirky thrift store finds. He liked having an audience and would
talk to anyone. In his retirement, he loved to swim at the YMCA where he exercised,
swam, and went to breakfast with his senior swim crew 6 days a week for many
years. He enjoyed watching old movies, working on craft projects like scrapbooking
and making mini-Christmas trees as well as being a regular at every thrift store in
town (especially Treasures). He also adored country music his whole life, making
several trips to Nashville over the years, and also played a bit of guitar and
harmonica himself.
He spent the first half of his working life at a factory called Burke Rubber Company
in San Jose, CA where he was acknowledged for his creative methods and
suggestions to make operations run more effectively. At mid-life with the move to
San Diego, he changed direction and ran his own landscaping business where he
could work outside and on his own schedule.
Ron was married to his beloved wife, Virginia Allen, for 54 years before her passing
in 2017. They lived in San Jose until 1978 before moving to San Diego where they
lived until 1992 when they moved up to Klamath Falls. Ron is survived by his
beloved children, Mary Ann Allen, Holly Allen, and LaRita Wilkens as well as his
cherished younger sister, Betty Buckham and many loved cousins, nieces, and
nephews. He adored his 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, several of
whom were with him the day he passed.
Ron was a believer in the Lord and kept saying that he wanted to go see his wife and
family in the last months and weeks of his life. He took his final breaths while the
song “I’ll Fly Away” (published in 1932) played by his ear and sung by his county
music hero, Hank Williams, with his daughters by his side. He now finally has his
wish come true.
The family would like to deeply thank those that cared for him in his final months
including his devoted granddaughter-in-law and caretaker, Krysta Childers
Washington, the hospice nurses and volunteers, and his daughter, Mary Ann Allen.
They made his final time on earth comfortable and happy and the rest of the family
is eternally grateful for their kindness and care for him.
There will be an informal celebration of life service on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025 at
3:00 pm in the Luther Square Rec Room in Klamath Falls, OR.
