Sadly, we lost one of the greatest men ever to roam this earth.
Early on the morning of August 14th, with his mom and his wife by his side, Ronnie went to rest and be whole again in the loving arms of his Heavenly Father.
Ronnie was born on the way from Tulelake to Klamath Falls (just about the Big Y junction). Eva and Leon Jackson welcomed their second child into this world that day, but little did they know what a mark this child would put on so many lives. He was a true blessing.
Ronnie was a kind, patient, generous, and humble gentleman. He spoke softly and listened intently. To be bestowed with bear hugs from this gentle giant was an honor and a blessing, as they were all enveloping and warm. No one wanted to miss one of those!!!
Dragging on Main Street one night, Ron met Sherry Kurth, and the rest is a long and beautiful love story of 56 years. They were only 28 days short of their 57th anniversary.
Ron and Sherry were best friends; always together, and they conquered it all!! Together, they could fix or build pretty much anything they set their minds on. Ron worked on their projects while Sherry handed him what he needed. What more could a guy ask for?
Ron and Sherry welcomed two boys into their lives, Doug (69) and Daniel (71). As a family, they raised their boys to be true gentlemen and to instill that in the generations to follow. "Pop's" loved all of his grandkids, who brought great joy and laughter into their lives. To support his family, Ron worked at OIT as a heavy equipment operator and carpenter for over 30 years.
Retirement was such a joy for Ron and Sherry. Along with Ron's best friend from childhood, Cletis, and Sherry's best friend from childhood, Sharron, (who are also married to each other) they traveled the United States. Even after being gone for 4 months, they remain the best friends. In their later travels they spent time in Canada and Alaska. Their time being snowbirds in Quartzsite, Arizona, were some of their fondest memories. Together, they did it right!
A friend of all children, Ronnie was always finding something fun to do, no matter the circumstance!! Even when going to the dump, which always yielded more treasures than trash taken, was an adventure. You could catch him singing along to all the old songs he loved like "Chantilly Lace" by The Big Bopper with the kids. He enjoyed hanging out with the kids and teaching them how to put worms on their hooks, how to play silly games including jacks and marbles, or telling them some of his favorite stories, like those of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox.
Ron is predeceased by his father: Leon Jackson, brothers: David Jackson and Donald Jackson. Sister-in-law: Barbara Jackson. Mother and father-in-law: Ed and Merline Kurth and brother-in-law: Kevin Kurth.
Ron is survived by his mother: Eva Jackson, wife, Sherry Jackson, sister-in-law: Nancy Jackson, brother and sister-in-law: Chuck and Pam Johnson, brother-in-law: Jim Kurth, sons: Doug (Lisa) and Dan (Suzie), grandchildren: Spencer Jackson, Taite Jackson, Ryder Jackson, Carson Jackson, Alyssa Sparks, and Brennan Sparks, nephews: Jay (Carol) Jackson, Kenny (Sara) Jackson, Joe Kurth, and Matt Som, nieces: Jennifer (James) Bruce, Bonnie (Mike) Bryson.
Ron brought sunshine even on the most dismal days. So, when you are feeling cold and low, put on a plaid shirt and embrace the memory of those warm and comforting hugs from Ronnie.
