Sandra Newell Stewart

Sandy Stewart passed peacefully in her home on November 12th.  Born to Paula & Knox Newell in Kingman Arizona, she grew up in Oakdale, CA.  After graduating from  UC Berkley, she married her husband of 65 years, John Stewart.  They started their family in San Jose, CA and in the early 70’s moved to Truckee, CA where they lived until 2009.  Sandy was a beloved teacher and principal at Truckee Elementary School.  In 2009, she moved to Chiloquin, Oregon to fully enjoy her retirement.  

Sandy was a joy to all who knew her.  There were no strangers in her world, only people who she hadn’t met yet.  She loved to travel, play golf and spend time with her husband and family.   Her strong faith inspired her to share her time with those who needed it and always had a story to tell.  Whether it was a sporting event, helping out a student or faculty member or volunteering in the community, she always kept herself busy and brought joy to everyone she met.  

While living in Chiloquin, she spent much time with the Smart Reading Program, the Chiloquin volunteer ambulance and working at the Blessing Pot.  She was a part of the body of believers at  St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Klamath Falls. 

Sandy leaves behind her husband John, her two children Matt (wife Jill), Trish (husband Mark) and her three grandsons, Andy, Scott and Ken (wife Kenzie).

A celebration of life will be announced soon.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Blessing Pot, c/o Chiloquin Christian Center
